Fire (100 or so), mainly to represent something will keep him from raising. If you check here I think you're looking a big bet and tough decision.

Yeah, I fired out with a 200 bet, button called. He had KKs. Given the way he played it I don't think there is anything I could have done. I thought maybe a check-raise on the turn, representing AK. But, I was worried about AQ-Ax, so if he was a calling station that move makes no sense. I wish I floped a set, so I could have suck-outed his slow play.
Does anyone see a better way to play this hand?

if you're firing the last round, it better make the guy think. . .your river bet is way too small. checking is better

If I check, I'm basically giving up the pot. Unless this guy is just that weak tight.

so, you want to throw away 200 more chips knowing this guy is going to call w/a better hand?

exactly with his calling your previous 200 bets i would be sure he is going to call 200 more on the river. I think checking may admit defeat and give up the pot but it will also save you 200 bucks.

I would check the river.

I see where you are coming from and are pretty much right. Sometimes I just get stubborn and don't want to let my chips go, so I throw away more. However, he could just as easily of had JJ, TTs or top pair.

Hard to say when it's only the 3rd hand in a tourney. You haven't had time to evaluate what type of player you're up against. I'd have probably checked on the river though. Why waste more chips early in a MTT?

I would be forced to check on the river in this situation. That ace overcard should have been a blessing in disguise. It would have slowed me down and I may have been inclined to also check that turn to get a feel for where I was in the hand. I have noticed that when the betting for a hand is a consistent bet/call, bet/call, bet/call..it usually means the person has a hand similar in nature to yours... maybe slightly better or maybe slightly worse. Most wouldn't hold onto a draw for that long.

I check. The way it played out, I probably would have put him on A-x. Not K-K. The A might have been your savior on this hand. Slowed you down, slowed him down.

im sure he would have prefered his savior to come in the form of a Queen though.
