Not to be an A$$, but how can you be an advanced player if you don't even know the betting structure of limit.
But the way it works is as follows.
3/6
Preflop is $3 to call or raise to $6, then someone can re-raise another $3 (9 total to flat call) and finally someone can capp it with another $3 raise ($12 total)
The flop is the same $3 dollars increments.
The Turn and river the increments are $6

Okay, I don't know where you live so I'll tell you about the two places I've played in Canada, River Rock in Vancouver and Casino Rama north of Toronto. Both are pretty much the same. You go up to a counter at the entrance to the poker room and put your name down for your chosen blind levels. At both places I was at, the lowest was $2/$4, but I was there on the weekend so don't know if they had lower than that during the week. River Rock also has a computerized board to show players where they are on the list because some days there can be 30 players ahead of you.
When you do get called, you go to a cash window to buy your chips (once you are seated at a table, if you run low one of the bosses will take your money to get refills). How much your buy-in is is really up to you. Normally, for the lower limits $100 is fine.
I only played limit but I'm assuming NL is the same for the blind structure. If you get sat in the BB then no problem, just post it and play. If you are sat somewhere else, you will have to post the equivalent of a BB. You can opt not to play until the BB reaches you however. Also, if you are seated in what would have been the small blind, I don't think you post until the button passes you. No matter what, the dealer will let you know when you need to post blinds. While you're waiting to get called, watch the play on the tables with limits you are going to play. You can get an idea of the quality (or definate lack of it) of the players you may be facing.
I would caution you against trying to go into the casino's underage. If they catch you, they may bar you permanently, or at least for a period beyond your 19th birthday. Use this time to read everything you can on poker. Practice like crazy, especially doing the mental calculations you need (like figuring out pot odds-my weak area). At 19, you'll still have 60 to 70 years to hone your skills. Don't start it by being barred.

Again, no offense, but the betting structure of FL hold'em is not casino related. It would be better put in the beginner's forum.
And a quick tip, FL is completely different than NL. If you plan to learn FL at age 17 3/6 at a casino is probably not the correct venue.

Before you go you should at least read Lee Jones "winning low limit holdem". But, good luck on your poker future.

That and casinos at least here in ontario are absolutely crazy about ID's. I've had two different 20 year old friends of mine turned down with their REAL id's. so my suggestion is not getting yourself barred for bringing a fake. I'd also suggest getting used to FL poker by a)reading a book (you can find many many book suggestions around the forum) and b) setting up an online account and playing low stakes is a good start.
As for the person who said 3/6 is a bad place to start at a casino, well you obviously havent played in ontario casinos. The average 5/10 player has no idea what they are doing lol.
