For which game? The NL section isn't drastically different between the two, but there are games in the first that you won't find in the second and vice versa. Also, the Limit and Stud Hi-Lo sections have different authors, so you're gonna get a different perspective from each.

If you just want NL, buy the second edition. If you want more than that, buy both.

I have read both super system books and got a lot of usefull information from both. If you follow super system you will almost always have the best hand and a plan if things don't work out. Super System is a book you will never want to throw out. It covers far more than holdem and after a while HE gets boring. In fact, 6 months after reading super system HE is no longer my favorite game. Razz is now my favorite.

Two other books that really help my game were 'zen and the art of poker' by Larry Phillips. (I have a similar temperment to Phil Hellmuth. we are both to competitive.) and Phil Hellmuths 'Texas Holdem' Texas Holdem gets more into tailoring your game to the opposition and quickly recognizing what caliber of competiton you are facing.

2, hands down. It is by far a more useful book for today's Poker settings, although Chip Reese's section on Stud in SS1 is still quite helpful.
