Real noob betting round question |

Hi there, only just started learning and I have a question which is going to seem pretty stupid, but here goes. In each individual betting round, I understand that the 2 people to the left of the dealer post the blinds, then the betting starts with whoever is next (to the left of the second person to post the second blind)
Now say this person checks. Then the next person raises, and the rest check until you get to the person who posted the blind, do they have to just put in the difference to make there bet up to the current amount ? I'm presuming this is so.
Also how long can a round go on for ? is it literally that each person gets one chance to raise or check etc, or can it go round again, with people continually re-raising the stakes ?
Thanks very much for reading this far, I realise my questions are pretty dumb but I'd really apreciate any help you could all give.
Thanks again

They can’t. A player can only check when the bet on them is zero. The small and big blinds are considered bets. So every player after the big blind has to put in at least enough to call if they want to see the flop.
I think you might be confusing call and check.

This is correct. The players on the blinds have their current bet subtracted from the total cost to see the flop. In the end everyone should finish a betting round with an equal contribution to the pot*.
*Ignoring people who are all-in or have folded.

If someone else raises you can raise. In other words if you raise and everyone calls you can’t raise again, but if one of those players raises you can re-raise.
The number of times you can raise depends on the betting structure. In Pot Limit and No Limit there aren’t any restrictions normally.

I see no restriction on what a beginner can ask. Although it is courteous to Googling for answers first, since these questions are part of the basic rules of poker.
