I started NL Texas Holdem at uni at the age of 20 and got into it big quite quickly. I actually have my first decent game coming up in March cos I ain't played a live game since I left uni in July 2003
I'm going back to uni to visit my old friends and we're playing £10 buy-in (about $15 I guess), 10 person, winner takes £75, 2nd takes £25. Cannot wait

a friend of mine told me he had won 1000kr(about 100US$) in one night at poker(this was at the end of last august), i knew he was a pokerplayer but i had never played it so i thought, i'm going to learn how to play poker and i'm going to be great and i'm going to win! so we met some other friends and we started talking about how great it would be if we all started playing poker so we would have something to do. so then we rented rounders which my friend said was a good pokermovie and after that, of course, we played our first cash-game, texas hold'em pot limit, 50kr buy-in, 0.5-1kr blinds, i ended up winning about 20kr.
i started my bankroll at 50kr, now it's up to over 4500kr (about 450US$). i won 800kr just last night.
it's funny, i've said to myself things like, i'm gonna learn how to skateboard and i'm gonna be great or i'm gonna learn kung-fu and beat people up but i've never followed through or i've lost interest after some time, but poker really stuck and i don't think i will ever quit playing.

I started at 22. I'm now 23. I work in an office with a bunch of older guys (not that old.. late 30's and 40's) and in our office we get a lot of mail that is arbitrarily given to the person to whome it was sent.
Someone usually goes through the mail and passes it to each of us... Well the junk mail gets left on this front-desk that nobody uses. One of the pieces of junk mail was a pamflet from Empire Poker. My buddy at work loaded the CD (just the download) and started playing. After about a week it seemed like all he came in the office to do.
So it became the "talk" of the week at the office. I had never played poker (and didn't even know the rules of Texas Hold'em).
So i loaded the program and have been playing ever since.
I've only once been to a real casino since I started playing online, and it was a very successfull night. It was a $5-$10 game in Sarnia Ontario (Charity Casnio) and I won about 400 bucks in 2 1/2 hours of play.
Since my one and only night out to a casino, i've been honing my abilities online and plan to play at Foxwoods CT at the next available few days off work.
