Hmmm....
Welll...
I have a nut question for you...
i'm sure you see where this is going...
because...
it's... like...
a double meaning... a play on words....
HARHARHAR
Anyway, just practice. Deal a board, and see what the best hand could be. Just think about it, and try to come up with the best possible hand on that board. If you're unsure, post it here, somebody will help you.

That ONE time? You mean, how to make sure you're beating someone else? Well, unless you have the "nuts" of which you speak, you can't.
The easiest way to tell, is by looking at the board, and seeing what the BEST possible hand is, if you had the two perfect cards in the hole.
For example,
If the cards are:
a a 3 4 5
The nuts in this situation would be the remaining two aces of and .
However, in this next situation, the aces would be no good.. Do you see why?
a a 2 3 k
Basically, you need to start thinking, in order, until you get used to it:
Is there any possible straight flush on the table?
4 of a kind?
Full house?
Flush?
Straight?
... etc...
A quick reference is to check for 3 suited cards, a pair on the board, or 3 cards with only one or two gaps. Otherwise, a 3 of a kind is the nut ^_^
Hope I helped..

Reading the board is a most important aspect of play and one at which I am particularly weak. You need to know not only what your opponent may have, but also what he may believe that you have. A hard thing to remember is that he can not see your cards. Reading the board from his eyes you may be able to see what he might think you have and bet accordingly.
Yes there are lots of interesting facts that you will pick up as you play.
Here's a few I like.
There can be no full house unless the board has at least a pair.
There can be no flush unless there are at least 3 of the same suit on the board.
Every straight must contain either a 10 or a 5.
The only three of a kind that can be the nuts is a set, not trips, of As, Ks or Qs. They are not the nuts unless the board has no possibility of a full-house, straight or flush. With a set of Js or lower the board always has the possibility of a straight. Note: A set is 3 of a kind 2 of which are in the hand. Trips is three of a kind with 2 on the board.
A flop of K82, K72, Q72 means there will be no straight possible this hand and are the only 3 flops of which this can be said.
Unless the flop and turn contain one of each suit there is a possibility of a flush draw.
