well, i was in a small mtts tonight & made it to heads up at the final table. for anyone that read my post last week, its the same tourney i made the bad call with the pocket 4's...anyway....
heads up & im literally 20x ahead of the other guy. if not more. for the 1st 3-4 hands he goes blind all in & in end up looking at my hand & folding. im not about to cave & let this guy chip away at me by getting lucky. i figure with my lead i can wait for my monster then finish it in one hand.
about 10 hands later ive put him all in several times when ive had qt, jk, Axs etc... & every time hes called & out drawn me with garbage ie. 85o & such. a few hands later & all the sudden he has an edge on me.
i get 10,5o & call from the sb, he checks. flop 6s,9x,7s, both check, turn, 8s, i go all in, he calls & tunrs over 4s5x, the river comes..................
10s.
this guy out-drew me again & got the flush on the river. oh well. all i can say is that last week when i lost i actually made a bad call (& learned the lesson btw) but this time i feel like i played winning poker all night & the cards just didnt fall my way at the end. i had to go all-in there right? i mean ..... how many times can he out-draw me? heh

I'm sure some would disagree but I would far rather go all in and get a bad beat than make some stupid move all in and be beaten. You went all in when you had the best of it. The other guy got lucky. If you're playing good poker then you will have bad beats more often.

Eddie, the idea is this...
If you are playing good poker you will get your money into a pot more often when you have the best hand. When you lose, it is a "bad beat" because you had the better odds and made the right play. Think of it this way, if you bet a sufficient amount every time you had the best hand (by sufficient, I mean enough to make the pot odds incorrect for your opponent to call) the only time you would lose would be when you opponent outdrew you when you had the lead going in - this is a bad beat.
Reality - good players get bad beats, bad players hand out the bad beats by calling hands they should not and getting lucky.
It ain't Sklansky, but I hope I explained that ok.
