A Few Questions

Posted Thu Apr 07, 2005 7:52 am GMT by TwistidChimp
Hi there, a few noob quesitons

1.) how much should the bet increase by in each round ? Is there a standard structure to this ?

2.) Is there a set maximum number of raises allowed per betting round ?

3.) are the Limits defined by the maximum size of the pot, or the maximum size of each bet, or the maximum number of raises ?.

If the alternatine is no limit, in no limit can the betting round can go on for as long as people keep raising, with no limit on the size of the pot. Or does no limit refer to only one of those, i.e there's a set number of raises but theres no limit to the pot size. Or does all of this differ from game to game ?

Sorry if these are obvious questions, any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks very much.

If you're talking about FL (fixed limit), the betting struture is as follows:

-I'll say it's a 1/2 limit game
-the 1 represents the bet amount preflop and on the flop (the 'cap' is 4 bets)
-you may only bet and raise in incriments of 1
-on the turn and river the bet amount is 2 (the 'cap' is still 4 bets)
-you may only bet and raise in incriments of 2
*often when it's down to two players there will be no cap--this is a house rule and varies from place to place, someplaces there still is a cap

As with everything else in this game "IT DEPENDS" You need to check house rules.

To quote Harold (The Musicman) Hill

"You gotta know the territory"

In pot limit each bet or raise is limited by the amount in the pot. However if you call then raise your call is considered part of the pot when establishing the amount you are allowed to raise.

In no limit your bet or raise can be any amount, but a raise usually must be at least as much as the previous bet. I.e. Bet is 100 call 100 your raise must be at least 100 unless of course you are all-in
